Srinagar police solved ATM machine theft case,04 arrested so far | KNO

More arrests & recoveries expected

On 06-02-2018 a complaint received by Police station Karanagar Srinagar  from Mr. Nisar Ahmad Ahangar, branch manager SBI Gole Market Karanagar Srinagar,alleging therein that One ATM Machine of SBI Bank installed by SBI Authority at Gole market Karanagar has been stolen along with cash. During intervening night of 05/06-02-2018, some burglars have  stolen ATM machine along with cash amounting to Rs 23,34,500/= (Twenty three lacs, thirty four thousand & five hundred rupees) .

On this complaint a case FIR No. 06/2018 U/S 457,380 RPC stands registered in Police Station Karanagar and investigation was taken up.

Accordingly, a team headed  by  SDPO Shaheed Gunj Shri Imran Malik-KPS &  SHO Police Station Karanagar inspector  Shri Museer Asgar was  constituted to thoroughly investigate the case.

During the course of investigation CCTV footage was taken from CCTV Cameras installed in and around Gole Market Karanagar   area and through analysis started. During analysis of CCTV footage, some clues were detected regarding the incident & clues struck regarding   few suspects  involved in the theft.Efforts were made to identify the  suspects through relevant sources & which finally lead to the identification of few suspects and further revelations of the incident.

During the course of investigation,police  busted the gang of  ATM machine theives from Srinagar.So far 04 accused  involved  in the case namely:

1. Junaid Bashir Bhat 

S/o Bashir Ahmad Bhat R/o Noonmai Yaripora Kulgam,

2. Umer Sadeeq Ganie 

S/o Mohammad Sadeeq Ganie R/o Muttibug Yaripora,

3. Junaid Bashir Bhat 

S/o  Bashir Ahmad Bhat R/o Muttibug Yaripora &

4. Zahid Ahmad Shah 

S/o Abdul Gani Shah 

R/o Ranipora Shopian have been arrested in the case and on their disclosure 02 Vehicles ,Tavera bearing Registration No. JK13B-8950 & vehicle i-20 which were utilized in the for ATM machine theft by the said accused persons were seized.

Overall  investigation  is going on in a right direction & 04 accused persons hailing from the south kashmir i.e,Yaripora Kulgam & Shopian have been arrested so far   and further arrests &  recoveries are expected very soon.Important to  mention here is that, it is  a gang which has been orchestrating organized crime of ATM looting in many parts of the valley imcluding Srinagar city. Their involvement in similar thefts of ATMs is suspected and being investigated.
